Goals of Center for Self Reliance:
-Institutional strengthening and development of the Center through continuous
education, up-to-date method development in organization, engagement of quality
associates and creation of various partnerships.
-Cooperation with European and international organizations with similar programs
and goals in order to increase informational flow regarding available rehabilitation,
prosthetics, alterative methods and realization of other projects.
- Provide easy information access to and about people with special needs and
their families for easier and complete integration into the society. Easier
contacts with government and non government organizations, societies, day
centres and others.
-Direct assistance to most critical cases.
-Organization of sporting and cultural manifestations for and in organizations
of people with disabilities.
-Influencing young people with disabilities to take active participation in
civil society. The active participation of people with disabilities in society
is essential for the protection and promotion of human rights and fundamental
freedoms.
-Support of economic development and creation of new work spaces for people
with disabilities. Increased public awareness about the need of integration
of this population into our society with same rights as everybody else. Establishment
of mutual understanding between people with disabilities and “healthy” people.
-Encouraging the individuals with special needs to positively change their
attitudes towards themselves through creative work (thus gaining psychological
stability, self-confidence, improving gender relations), as well as their
attitudes towards their families and their environment (accepting reality
– one of the main conditions for activating healthy forces in the family,
support of the family members for more successful adaptation to the life outside
and the surrounding, sensitivity to the indicators of neglect and abuse in
the family).
-Psycho-social, educational and work rehabilitation of people with special
needs as means of getting employment and creating healthy hobbies for creative
use of free time.
-Creation of a new reliable social network which would make people with disabilities
independent or at least less dependent on social assistance (which is very
scarce) and be a strong influence on strengthening the civil society of Bosnia
and Herzegovina.
-Working toward the development of a positive image of people with disabilities
in our society, appealing to the media, in particular, to assume their responsibility
in this field.
-Raising awareness about the importance of a regular social interaction, acquiring
a variety of skills through the workshops, and supporting and encouraging
creative potentials of our beneficiaries.
-Portray the importance creating a unique database about PWDs which does not
exist at the moment, but which would help properly direct any social assistance
or financial contribution to the ones who need it the most.
